Everyday we are exposed to many allergens and irritants including our food, cosmetics or substances we are using including hair dye, metals, leather. However we are not aware about any specific allergen to avoid or proper treatment.
Our allergy clinic helps you with proper history taking, clinical correlation and counseling to identify, avoid and treatment of allergies.
What You Need To Know
1.IS IT PAINFUL?
No. You will just feel like a scratch with a thumbpin while prick testing Patch tests don't use needles. Instead, allergens are applied to patches, which are then placed on your skin.
2.HOW LONG IT TAKE TO KNOW THE RESULTS?
Prick testing results will be available within 10-15 minutes. In patch testing, you need to wear the patches on your arm or back for 48 hours. During this time, you should avoid bathing and activities that cause heavy sweating. The patches are removed when you return to your doctor's office. Irritated skin with redness or wheals at the patch site may indicate an allergy. Delayed reactions can occur upto 5-7 days. Do we need to avoid anything? If you are taking antihistamines, you need to stop for at least 2-3 days before the tests are performed. What after we find an allergy? If you are allergic to something, best thing is to avoid them. However, if you are allergic to environmental allergens like pollens, house dust mites or fungus, we also have desensitization therapies available.
